Unions, Yale Reach Tentative Contract Agreement for 5,000 Workers

Yale University and its workers are hoping to extend 14 continuous years of labor peace.

Local 34 and Local 35 of UNITE HERE and the university announced this week they have reached tentative contract agreements with the 5,000 service, maintenance, clerical and technical workers.

Details of the pacts will not be released until union members vote on it January 18.

Both parties, in a news release, said they feel the contracts will continue to underwrite good jobs at the university, which along with Yale New Haven Hospital, is the largest employer in New Haven. …
