AFL-CIO Leader Calls Trump Protest ‘One of the Greatest Assaults on Our Democracy’

  • AFL-CIO union leader Richard Trumka is publicly condemning President Donald Trump’s supporters for storming the US Capitol.
  • He called it “one of the greatest assaults on our democracy since the Civil War.”
  • Trumka, who has worked with the Trump administration over the last four years, largely blamed the president for instigating the actions.

Prominent union leaders of the AFL-CIO and United Auto Workers are publicly condemning President Donald Trump‘s supporters for storming the US Capitol on Wednesday.

AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka called it “one of the greatest assaults on our democracy since the Civil War.” UAW President Rory Gamble described it as “a very sad day for our nation and our democracy.”
