Rivkin earned Academy Award and BAFTA nominations for Avatar, which he edited with director James Cameron and John Refoua. He won an ACE Eddie Award for Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curve of the Black Pearl, and earned three additional Eddie nominations, including one for Avatar.
Rivkin previously was VP of ACE, and also chairs the Committee for Creative Recognition, a joint effort between ACE and Motion Picture Editors Guild. The committee asks film festivals and awards presentations, domestic and international, that already recognize cinematography and/or production design to additionally recognize editing. In recent years, that effort helped lead to the addition of editing categories at events including Film Independent’s Spirit Awards, the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards and ASIFA’s Annie Awards.
