Cinema Audio Society Nominates Dozens of Guild Members for Sound Mixing Awards for ‘Irishman,’ ‘Ford v Ferrari,’ more

The Cinema Audio Society on Tuesday announced the nominees for the 56th Annual CAS Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing for 2019 in seven categories.

The list includes 75 nominees working in film and television who are members of the Motion Picture Editors Guild, including board members Tom Fleischman, CAS, and Lora Hirschberg.

“Each year I am gobsmacked by the impressive level of craftsmanship and artistry that is brought to the forefront at the CAS Awards and 2019 will be no exception,” said CAS President Karol Urban, CAS, MPSE. “It is such a joyful honor to have the opportunity to reunite with fellow mixers and celebrate the stellar work of our sound community. Congratulations to all our talented nominees!”

Final balloting for the awards will begin Jan. 2, with voting ending on Jan. 14.

The awards will be presented in a ceremony Jan. 25 at the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown. At the event, Fleischman will receive the CAS Career Achievement Award.
