Edie Ichioka, ACE is a Japanese-American film editor whose work spans animated features, documentaries, and live-action storytelling. She began her career in documentary filmmaking and in sound departments, Her first union job was as an apprentice sound editor on Dead Poets Society on a team led by Alan Splet.
Her editing credits include Toy Story 2, The Boxtrolls, The Take, Over the Moon and Thelma the Unicorn spanning both studio and independent productions. Across these projects, she has worked with a range of directors, storytellers, and animation teams, contributing to films with many distinct visual styles and narrative approaches.
Ichioka also directed and edited the feature-length documentary Murch, a distillation of the teachings of editor and sound designer Walter Murch. The film draws on her early experiences assisting on him on The English Patient, The Godfather Part III, as well as the Godfather Trilogy. Murch was an official selection at international film festivals including Telluride, Rotterdam, Melbourne, Vancouver, Palm Springs, and San Francisco.
She is currently editing at Netflix Animation Studios.
