What was your first union job?
DMZ limited TV series on HBO MAX based on a DC comic. I joined the show as a VFX editor working closely with editors Gina Hirsch and John Reyes-Nguyen.
List the credits you’re most proud of.
I am really proud of being the animatic editor on Asura. It was my first feature film that I joined during pre-production. I got to be a part of all the planning of the film and work closely with the director Peng Zhang and the VFX team to shape the action-heavy sequences before principle photography.
What are you watching right now?
I am rewatching Replay 1988. It is nostalgic and heartwarming. It is my feel-good show.
What is your guilty pleasure – TV shows or movies?
Friends, Sexy and the City, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Put any of those on and I will become a couch potato.
What would be your dream project to work on?
Animated musical with Kung Fu battle. I think it is self-explanatory.
What is your personal or professional mantra?
You don’t have to be good at it to start. You need to start to be good at it.
What was your favorite childhood food dish?
Dumplings. I love it so much now that I can make pretty good dumplings myself.
What’s a meaningful film to you as an Asian American that you would recommend?
BEEF Season 1. The show created real Asian American characters. No poker face or stereotypes, simply real human beings with their own baggage.
