Growing up in an immigrant (Taiwanese) household, the approved career paths were simple: become a doctor (dad’s vote) or a concert pianist (mom’s vote). Nena wanted to be Andy Warhol.
Armed with an art degree and zero plans to attend medical school, she entered the industry through a friend and began in production before discovering editing. The mix of photography and storytelling turned out to be the perfect fit.
Since then, Nena has edited projects for HBO, Sony, Universal, Marvel, and more, building a reputation for her ability to combine wit with heart. In 2023, she edited the feature film Joy Ride, following four Asian friends on an unhinged and heartfelt trip through China in search of one of their birth mothers. Recently, she worked on Marvel’s Wonder Man, a genre- defying, character-driven series. She is currently editing the Amazon original series Elle, the prequel to Legally Blonde.
Her work earned her two Emmy Awards, the first Project Greenlight and the second for Insecure. She’s also received two ACE Eddie nominations for Insecure and a third for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Her parents have stopped asking her about medical school. In her free time, Nena volunteers as a mentor in the ACE Diversity Mentorship Program and the ACE Internship Program. She also lives with her dog, Bella, who has never edited a single frame but clearly considers herself a part of the post team.
