Five newcomers will join the 2025 Board of Directors for the Motion Picture Editors Guild, according to results released Monday.
Out of 8,397 eligible voters, 1,725 ballots were cast, for a 21% participation rate. That’s below the 32% for last year’s election, but still better than the 16% result for the 2023 Board elections.
Two seats on the Board (for Picture Editor and Eastern Region) were lost due to a decline in membership numbers, from 8,780 last year to 8,409. Overall, the Board has 54 seats; 13 were up for election this year. (Here’s a link to the full election results on EditorsGuild.com.)
The first-time Board members are Leah Gunter, Assistant Editor; Grace Kline, Eastern Region Alternate; Sarah C. Reeves, Picture Editor; Jennifer Vecchiarello, Picture Editor; and Karol Urban, Re-Recording/Music Mixer.
The returning incumbents will be Halima K. Gilliam and Robert J. Kraut, Assistant Editors; Alyson Dee Moore and Holly Sklar, At Large; Carrie Puchkoff, Eastern Region; and Maysie Hoy, A.J. Catoline and Nancy Morrison, Picture Editors.
Seven incumbents will be exiting the Board after multiple years of service. They are:
Anna Behlmer, Re-Recording Mixer: 3 years
Jason Brotman, Assistant Editor: 6 years
Rick Derby, Eastern Region: 15 years
Amy Duddleston, Picture Editor: 6 years
David Rogow, Assistant Editor: 8 years
Alec Styborski, Eastern Region: 2 years
Austin Scott, Picture Editor: 3 years
Molly Shock, Picture Editor: 9 years
In addition, the election determined eligible representatives to the IATSE and District 2 conventions. When the convention dates are determined, the Board will recommend the number of delegates to send to the IATSE and D2 conventions. In recent years, the Board has typically voted to send about 30 delegates to D2.
“On behalf of the Election Committee, I want to thank every member who voted, who encouraged other members to vote, and every candidate who chose to run,” said Election Chair Molly Shock. “Though we have many varied opinions on how we move forward and how our energies should be spent, at our core, we all want the same thing: To make our union stronger.”
